February 14, 2024Hello Everyone,
As the year draws to a close, HRATS reflects on our incredible journey this past year. None of our accomplishments would have been possible without the support from individuals like you who share our passion for getting out on our amazing trails.
HRATS has had an incredibly successful 2023. We're particularly proud of our partnership with Hood River County, a collaboration that has been instrumental in improving the Post Canyon Trail system. Together, we've made significant strides in ensuring the trail system grows and remains accessible and enjoyable for all.
As evidence of this great relationship, there are two new descending trails in Post Canyon that are very close to finished. One is to the NW of Bad Motor Scooter (BMS) and other is SE of BMS. Both have roughly the same elevation drop. Along with the Changes in Family Man, these trails will make Post Canyon more fun for a wide range of riders.
We are also very excited about the work on other trails in the area, especially with the enormous efforts of a tireless crew on Whoopdee. We are hopeful all of you will be able to ride the new extension soon.
The hallmark of HRATS is the dedication of our volunteers. We can't express enough gratitude for the thousands of hours volunteers contributed toward trail building and maintenance efforts this year. As well as all of you that helped keep HRATS running and improving. You all show up when we ask, which means everything to us! Your commitment is the backbone of our success and has helped maintain the magic of our trails.
This year, we embarked on an exciting journey with the Family Man rebuild. This project has been years in the making and is a recognition of our dedication to creating spaces that unite families and the community. It's incredible to see the next generation of riders – from the striders to the teenagers doing hot laps – coming together at Family Man.
Our work is far from over. To ensure 2024 is just as successful as this last year, we need your support. Regardless of size, your contributions make a huge difference in local trails.
As we approach the year-end, we humbly ask you to consider donating to HRATS. Whether big or small, your financial contribution will directly impact our ability to carry out essential trail maintenance, complete the next phase of trail building at Post Canyon and Whoopdee, and expand our outreach through programming like Families at Family Man.
As of this year, our partnership with 1% For the Planet is new. If you work for or are involved with a member business, this is an excellent way to keep donation dollars in our community. We thank Ethos Development and B. Collective, our first two supporting members.
Please consider making a tax-deductible donation to HRATS today by visiting our HRATS website.
HRATS is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. Our Fed ID is 90-0425101, and our EIN is 45-4200585. Checks can be mailed to 1767 12th St. #209 Hood River, OR 97031
Please contact us before you donate through a trust or big financial institution. In many cases, the checks from trusts and big financial institutions are mailed to IMBA in Colorado, and getting the money back to us is challenging.
Every dollar counts because we put everything we can directly into the trails! We are 100% volunteer-run and need your donations to make this work possible!
Thank you for being an integral part of the HRATS community. Wishing you a happy holiday season and a fantastic year ahead!
Thanks again,
Tim Mixon
President, Hood River Area Trail Stewards
