Steve Dunn, a member of CAMBA and on the HRATS XC Committee met with Frank Backus of SDS Lumber last week to discuss the status of the Spring St./Hospital Hill/Evergreen Highway trail complex. They discussed several topics, and here are the highlights:
- They (SDS) are under the impression that people are building stunts/features in the area. They need our help in getting the word out that IF THEY FIND NEW STUNTS/FEATURES, THEY WILL CLOSE THE ENTIRE AREA TO ALL BIKING. So, if you know anyone who is building up there (or you are building up there), please tell them to stop, as they are putting the entire area in jeopardy of being closed to biking. As we all know, this would be a terrible loss.
- SDS will not be able to address the logs that are down on hospital hill including the Evergreen Hwy this year. Just like HR County, these downed trees are not to be cut or moved. They will work us (CAMBA and HRATS) within reason to get a contiguous route to the top and out to the bench. Right now it sounds like that route will be “Triple By-pass”.
We will be sure to post any updates and work party information on this site.
